A well-fitting high-quality scuba mask is arguably one of the most important purchases you will need to take on your diving holidays. So taking a little time to find the best possible product that suits you is recommended.

After all, it will be you that is primarily using the mask and will want the most comfort possible. Human eyes are unable to focus underwater which is why you need a mask when you go diving.

A mask works by trapping a pocket of air in front of your eyes so that your eyes can focus properly. A mask will usually have one or two layers of tempered glass in a frame.

When you buy a new mask, you will find that there is a protective layer on the glass that will need to be removed before use. This can be removed with a nonabrasive cloth and some cleaner to remove this coating without damaging the glass.

Make sure that you rinse your mask in fresh water after each time you use it and always store it away from direct sunlight and store it in a dry place. It is also possible to purchase masks that contain prescription lenses, so if you wear glasses you will be able to see in the water.
